Video Summary
The IGCS Early Career Network workshop brought together early-career professionals, faculty, and mentors to develop pragmatic research proposals and strengthen international collaboration. Organizers emphasized the network’s role in supporting innovation and future leadership, while GCIG highlighted the need for practical trials addressing everyday clinical questions that industry-sponsored research may not prioritize.

Eight proposals were presented, covering postoperative digital navigation, delayed surgery for recurrent ovarian cancer, pembrolizumab with chemoradiation for cervical cancer, duloxetine for chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, supportive care during PARP-inhibitor treatment, pelvic rehabilitation after cervical cancer, combined HPV screening and vaccination, and increasing BRCA testing uptake.

Faculty feedback focused on making proposals feasible and useful in routine care. Common recommendations included defining feasibility outcomes, justifying sample sizes and patient selection, ensuring appropriate comparison groups, considering patient-relevant and objective endpoints, and assessing costs and health-system impact. Discussion also addressed ethical trial design, equitable access, and the importance of understanding how interventions affect real-world healthcare use.

The workshop concluded with an overview of the Cervical Cancer Research Network (CCRN), which supports research collaboration and education in settings with fewer research resources. CCRN is broadening its scope to include other gynecologic cancers and transitioning toward the name Gynecologic Cancer Research Network (GCRN).
