Pdf Summary
The August 2020 edition of "Ed's List: In The Know" provides a compilation of significant research findings in the field of gynecologic oncology. Some of the key topics covered in the list include racial/ethnic differences in ovarian cancer risk, evaluation of p16 in ovarian cancer for a 10-year study, the impact of Adler grade on cervical cancer, ovarian cancer prognosis in women with endometriosis, incidence trends and burden of HPV-associated cancers, the use of PARP inhibitors in the management of ovarian cancer, and the evaluation of cytoreductive surgery with or without hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.

One study found that there are racial/ethnic differences in ovarian cancer risk and risk factors, which could help improve prevention strategies for non-White women. Another study evaluated the use of p16 in epithelial ovarian cancer and found a significant association with programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) protein expression. Additionally, the use of PARP inhibitors was shown to improve survival outcomes for patients with stage III epithelial ovarian cancer.

These findings contribute to the understanding of gynecologic cancers and can inform clinical decision-making and treatment strategies for patients. Further research is needed to fully evaluate the use of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy in the upfront treatment of ovarian cancer.
