Video Summary
The session introduced an IGCS/GCIG Early Career Network workshop on pragmatic trials and small research proposals in gynecologic cancers. Rémy Nout and Asima Mukhopadhyay explained that the goal is to support feasible, clinically relevant studies—especially those using minimal data, routine practice, and practical designs. They shared examples from a CCRN workshop in São Paulo, where grant applicants gave short pitches, received expert feedback, and three projects won seeding grants. Two example funded projects were a phase III trial of hyperfractionated versus standard radiotherapy for cervical cancer and a translational biomarker study in Latin American cervical cancer samples.

The speakers clarified that pragmatic trials are not the same as explanatory trials; pragmatism can involve broad eligibility, real-world settings, simple follow-up, limited data collection, patient-centered outcomes, and feasible conduct. They emphasized that low-resource settings, registries, diagnostic studies, retrospective/prospective work, and even AI-supported projects may fit if they address real clinical questions and can be implemented pragmatically.

The workshop will award up to three proposals with $5,000 seeding grants. Applications require an abstract, proposal, budget justification, CV, support letter, and GCP training evidence, with a July 13 deadline and August 7 notifications.
