Video Summary
Optimal cytoreductive surgery in advanced ovarian cancer often requires rectosigmoid resection. This procedure risks anastomotic leakage, linked to poor blood supply. Traditionally, perfusion assessment was subjective, but near-infrared (NIR) angiography with indocyanine green (ICG) dye now allows real-time visualization of vascular perfusion. The video demonstrates setup and use of a pinpoint endoscopic fluorescence system to assess blood flow during surgery. ICG dye is injected intravenously, and perfusion defects guide additional resections to ensure well-perfused anastomosis. This technique reduces complications, is rapid, safe, and improves outcomes in gynecologic oncology surgeries.
