Video Summary
This surgical video demonstrates a robotic-assisted laparoscopic splenectomy and pericolonic tumor removal in a 65-year-old patient with recurrent mucinous ovarian cancer. After initial treatment and recurrence nine years later, tumor growth was detected in the spleen and near the colon. Using the da Vinci XI robot, surgeons mobilized the splenic flexure, ligated vessels, and removed the spleen along with the pericolonic tumor implant. Careful dissection avoided injury, and residual tumor was ablated. The patient recovered without complications and was discharged the next day. Pathology confirmed metastatic ovarian cancer. This case shows the feasibility and technical benefits of robotic surgery in recurrent gynecologic cancer.
