Video Summary
This presentation discusses sentinel lymph node biopsy using technetium-99 and indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence for vulvar cancer, a rare disease with significant morbidity from traditional lymphadenectomy. Sentinel node biopsy reduces complications and is recommended for unifocal tumors under 4 cm with negative groin nodes. A 70-year-old woman with a 3x2 cm vulvar cancer underwent radical vulvectomy and bilateral sentinel node biopsy with technetium-99 and ICG instead of the standard isosulfan blue dye. The procedure successfully identified sentinel nodes via gamma probe and fluorescence. One node had metastasis; the other did not. ICG is a feasible alternative dye; further safety studies are needed.
